Trampoline & Tumbling Judging Accreditation

Course Description
School of Judging Trampoline & Tumbling offers testing opportunities for individuals seeking to be certified in specific disciplines and categories of Trampoline & Tumbling Judging: Double Mini (Category 1-3), Trampoline (Category 1-3) and Tumbling (Category 1-3). Coaches are also encouraged to participate in order to facilitate their coaching strategies.

Individuals must attend the course and pass the test with 80% accuracy.



Beginning Judges Certification (Category 3)
This is the first in a series of courses designed to educate and certify judges for the Development Program disciplines of Trampoline (Individual and Synchronized), Tumbling and Double Mini Trampoline. Upon successful completion of each discipline specific course, judges will be certified with a Category 3 rating.

Category 3 judges, who also hold the appropriate USAG membership, are permitted to judge all Development Program levels 1-Open as an execution judge for the discipline tested and as a horizontal displacement judge if certified in Trampoline. They may perform the judging roles for horizontal displacement, time-of-flight, and video for elite competition within the country.

To successfully achieve a Category 3 Judges rating in trampoline, double mini or tumbling participations must successfully complete both an online written exam and attend a live, in person practical exam.

Intermediate Judges Certification (Category 2)
This is the second in a series of courses designed to educate and certify judges for the Development Program disciplines of Trampoline (Individual and Synchronized), Tumbling and Double Mini Trampoline. Upon successful completion of each discipline specific course, judges will be certified with a Category 2 rating. Category 2 judges are permitted to judge in all positions within the Development Program levels 1-Open for the discipline tested. They may perform the judging roles for horizontal displacement, time-of-flight, and video for elite competition within the country and as execution judge for local meets and invitationals.

Each course consists of a lecture session with clarifications, and a practice judging session. The exams consist of an open book written exam and an onsite practical exam that features execution, writing shorthand for difficulty in real time, calculation of routine difficulty values, as well as being able to recognize and apply the calls that either the Difficulty Judge or Chair of the Judges' Panel makes. All parts of the exam will be timed, including 45 minutes allowed at the end of the course to finish. Individuals must attend the course and pass the written exam and all sections of the practical exams with 80% accuracy.

Requirements to participate in the Category 2 Judges Course:
  1. Have a previous Category 3 rating with experience judging a minimum of 2 meets.
  2. Online registration and payment, or onsite registration, payment plus late fee.
  3. Current Development Program Code of Points & Guide to Judging
  4. T&T Rules and Policies (online access)
  5. Paper and writing utensils
Participants must have an advanced knowledge of all documents listed above and must be able to make appropriate calls based upon this knowledge. Participants are required to recognize and independently write shorthand for elements in real time, as well as calculating difficulty for elements and routines performed at the Development Program levels 8-Open.


Advanced Judging Certification (Category 1)
This is the last in a series of courses for National Judging Certification. The course is designed to train judges to evaluate the highest level of competitive Trampoline, Tumbling and Double Mini Trampoline. Upon successful completion of each discipline specific course, judges will be certified with a Category 1 rating. Category 1 judges are permitted to judge in all positions, at all levels within the United States, in the discipline tested.

Each course consists of a lecture session covering the FIG Code of Points, Code of Points U.S. Elite T&T Special Requirements, T&T Rules and Policies, new rules pertaining to the Development Code of Points & Guide to Judging, clarifications and a practice judging session.

The exams consist of a closed book written exam, and an onsite practical exam that features execution, writing shorthand for difficulty in real time, calculation of routine difficulty values, as well as being able to recognize and apply the calls that the Execution Judge, the Difficulty Judge, and the Chair of the Judges Panel make. All parts of the exam will be timed, including 45 minutes allowed at the end of the course to finish. Individuals must attend the course and pass the written exam and all sections of the practical exams with 80% accuracy.

Fees
  • $45 for USA Gymnastics Members for each discipline.
    Professional, Jr. Professional, Athlete (age 15 or older) and Non Member
  • There is an additional $5 fee for registering onsite.
*Non-Members cannot register online for this course and must download registration form
*Please note to judge at a sanctioned event one must be a current member with valid NCSI background check.
Policies
  • Pre-registration can be done online up to 48 hours prior to the LIVE course date. Pre-registration by mail or fax, must be received two weeks prior to the course.
  • Once registered, an individual may not transfer registration fees to another exam date or request a refund unless they do so in writing to USA Gymnastics at least 8 days prior to the scheduled exam. Extreme extenuating circumstances will be taken into consideration on an individual basis.
  • Registration is the property of the registrant and cannot be transferred to another individual.
  • There is an additional $5 fee for registering onsite.

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to testing time with a T&T code of points, paper and pen/pencil.

USA Gymnastics University
Upon completion of the course, members can print out a certificate of course completion on their USA Gymnastics "My Profile" page. (Please allow 3-4 weeks). To print course certificates, individuals must have an active USA Gymnastics membership (Recreational Coach, Competitive Coach, Judge, Owner/Managing Director, or Athlete).
