About the National Gymnastics Foundation: The National Gymnastics Foundation serves as the development arm of USA Gymnastics. Established in 1984, the Foundation's mission is to provide for the sustainability and promotion of the sport and support the ongoing education efforts of USA Gymnastics (USAG). The Foundation aims to grow the sport by providing academic and training scholarships to athletes, financial support to our U.S. National Team, and broadening educational resources and community access to the sport.

Job Summary: The National Gymnastics Foundation seeks a full-time Executive Director (ED) who will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Foundation as well as shape the future through vision, values, leadership, and strategy. Reporting to the Board of Directors and working closely with USAG leadership, the ED will create and steward a comprehensive development plan including major gifts, fundraising campaigns and events/experiences leveraging USAG's assets.

Responsibilities:

    Fundraising: The ED will proactively fundraise and relay the important work of the organization to create a donor base that is energized, empowered, and excited to be involved. The ED will also have the following responsibilities:
    • Develop, plan, lead, and execute a fundraising strategy to support the mission
    • Diversify and develop new funding streams
    • Drive significant revenue growth in the first 12 months
    • Cultivate existing and identify new donors
    • Build and manage relationships with a variety of stakeholders including Board of Directors, athletes, community members and donors
    Strategy: There is significant opportunity as we head into the Paris 2024 Olympic Games to also capitalize on the momentum of the US hosted LA28 Games. The ED will develop a plan to lead this critical growth phase and will:
    • Set priorities and strategies to ensure high growth in funding
    • Maintain a high standard of excellence in our programs and the organization's brand
    • Lead the development and implementation of the new strategic plan and evolve it based on learnings
    Operations: We are a small, passionate and agile team. As the only full-time Foundation staff member, the ED will:
    • Leverage and manage resources provided by USA Gymnastics via shared services
    • Recruit and lead a volunteer team utilizing their strengths to move the mission forward
    • Prioritize time, delegate tasks and have a "roll up your sleeves" mentality with a strong work ethic
    • Develop annual budget and oversee the day-to-day finances
    • Create and manage a donor database
    • Regularly provide reports on visits, relationships, activities, results, and other key performance metrics compared to goals
    • Collaborate with USA Gymnastics leadership to create ancillary events around Olympic Trials, Hall of Fame, the Olympic Games and other events to cultivate donor support
    • Demonstrate excellence in donor stewardship and communications
    • Execute on all responsibilities required for compliance with 501(c)3 status, state requirements and insurance
    • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills, Education & Experience:

  • Demonstrated excellence in organization, strategic planning and execution
  • Professional presence:
    • Be the public face of the Foundation
    • Outstanding verbal, written and interpersonal skills
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Successful track record of fundraising exceeding $3m annually
  • Personal experience soliciting major gifts and interacting with donors
  • Ability to contribute at the strategic level by thinking quickly and creatively
  • Strong, active listening skills with dynamic presentation abilities
  • Act with a high degree of integrity, maintain flexibility and emotionally resilient
  • Cultural and global awareness
  • Ability to work as a part of a team as well as independently
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required
  • Minimum five (5) years of fundraising experience (preferably sports related)
  • Experience planning and implementing fundraising events including dinners, galas, auctions and networking events
  • Experience in fundraising analytics, specifically, understanding how to use data analysis to identify donor prospects and their capacity and interest to give
  • A proven track record in building strong donor relationships
  • An awareness of, affiliation with, and a passion for the Olympic movement, Olympic Community, and elite athletes specifically the sport of gymnastics
