COTTBUS, Germany - Representing the U.S. Friday at the FIG Apparatus World Cup in Cottbus, Germany, reigning World bronze medalist on horizontal bar Brody Malone (Belfast, Tenn./Stanford University) qualified to the high bar final in the top spot with a 14.633. He will also compete in Sunday's parallel bars final after delivering the second-highest score of the day. Malone's 14.500 was bested only by Illia Kovtun of Ukraine who posted a 15.000.
On Thursday, Malone secured a spot in Saturday's pommel horse (14.033) and still rings (13.533) finals. He has advanced on every apparatus he competed on during the two-day qualifications. Both days of finals competition are slated to begin at 8 a.m. ET.
