WACO, Texas -- Top seed Baylor used a strong performance in the tumbling and team events to earn its fifth-straight national championship with a 278.400-271.725 victory over second-seeded Oregon on Saturday evening in the NCATA Tournament finals.

The Bears also wrapped up their fourth undefeated season in program history by ending the year with a 12-0 record. Oregon wraps up the year with a 7-3 mark, with all three of its losses coming to Baylor this season.

Three of the first four events were decided by two-tenths of a point or less to begin the meet, including compulsory (37.675-37.600), pyramid (29.400-29.200), and toss (29.100-29.000). The acro event was also decided by less than a point at 29.100-28.675.

Baylor and Oregon each scored a 9.50 or higher in 11 heats during the first four events, with Oregon scoring a meet-high 9.90 in the open pyramid, a 9.85 in the compulsory toss and a 9.80 in the open toss. The Bears also scored their first of two 9.90's in the compulsory toss, and added a pair of 9.85's in the inversion pyramid and open pyramid. The Bears also added scores of 9.80 in the compulsory pyramid and five-element acro.

In the tumbling event, Baylor scored a 9.60 or higher in four of the six heats to create some separation heading into team event. The Bears had a strong performance in the individual tumbling passes with a 9.70 in the aerial pass, a 9.90 in the six-element pass, and a 9.825 in the open pass. Baylor also scored a 9.60 in the duo pass.

The 9.90 in the six-element pass matched a team-high for Baylor in the meet.

Oregon was also impressive in the individual tumbling passes, scoring a 9.60 in the aerial pass, and a pair of 9.725's in the six-element and open passes.

Baylor wrapped up its championship performance by outscoring Oregon in team event by a 95.85-92.55 margin.
