U203:
Low Energy Availability in Gymnasts

Online Course

Course Description

Male and female gymnasts in all disciplines often struggle to ensure they get the proper nutrition. Up to 60% of gymnasts are not fueling properly to meet their energy needs, or they are knowingly restricting their calories. This course is designed to help coaches and parents recognize the signs of low energy availability (also known as Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport or RED-S), some consequences to the athlete, and what to do if a gymnast isn't getting adequate nutrition.
