U111: Setting Healthy Boundaries with Athletes

Course Description

Maintaining appropriate boundaries with minor athletes and their parents are crucial when coaching children. Healthy boundaries allow the coach and the parent to maintain objectivity while working for the best interest of the child. This course will take a look at boundaries as they relate to line of site, information sharing, needs of the child based on their physical and developmental age, parental boundaries, social media, and personal liability. This course has been created and then adapted with the input of those on the front lines of youth programming, school resources officers, and the gymnastics community after presented at the 2019 National Congress in Kansas City.

To print course certificates, individuals must have an active USA Gymnastics membership (Recreational Coach, Competitive Coach, Judge, Owner/Managing Director, or Athlete).
