The primary goal of this course is to enhance safety awareness and strengthen risk management practices within the sport of gymnastics. It is designed for a broad audience, including gymnastics coaches, teachers, instructors, club owners, meet directors, judges, athletes, and other professionals involved in the sport.
The course focuses on the two fundamental areas of risk in gymnastics: the risk of injury, which is the most significant concern, and the risk of legal liability. Participants will learn how education, thorough preparation, and consistent vigilance serve as the most effective tools for managing risk and navigating uncertainty in gymnastics environments.
Key topics include facilities management; apparatus and equipment safety; training pits and rebound devices; supervision and instructional best practices; child abuse prevention; sports medicine considerations; athlete preparation and progressions; and proper spotting techniques.
