R103: School Age: Hands on Training (HOTSA)

Course Description

This is a course, designed to provide hands on training for instructors of school-aged/recreational gymnasts. This course covers class safety overview, games, warm ups, progressions on bars, floor and trampoline, lesson planning, age appropriate skills and drills, and spotting.

The School Age/Recreational Course has been developed to:

Enhance and standardize recreational gymnastics programs throughout the United States.
Provide appropriate information for school-aged recreational coaches with the emphasis on safety, individual development, fitness and fun.
Provide information on games, warm ups, progressions on bars, beam, vault, floor and trampoline, lesson planning and age appropriate skills and drills
Provide HANDS ON SPOTTING

This course is focused on teaching gymnastics movement education to school aged children (ages 6+).

R103 is a companion to U100 Fundamentals of Gymnastics Instruction course (online). It is highly recommended that you complete U100 prior to R103. However, it is not a requirement to take U100 prior. U100 covers the theories and concepts of gymnastics education and R103 builds on those concepts by providing practical examples and experience. The course will take approximately five hours to complete. To print course certificates, individuals must have an active USA Gymnastics membership (Recreational Coach, Competitive Coach, Judge, Owner/Managing Director, or Athlete).

Individual Registration

$95 for USA Gymnastics Members: Recreational Coach, Competitive Coach, Judge, Meet Director, Owner/Managing Director, Athlete (aged 14 or older)
$120 for non-members (aged 14 or older)

USA Gymnastics Members Clubs can register their member and non-member employees (aged 14 or older) at the following discounted rates:
- 1st Registrant: $95
- 2nd - 6th - Registrant: $89/person
- 7th - 11th - Registrant: $85/person
- 12th - 19th - Registrant: $79/person
- 20th+ - Registrant: $75/person

All attendees aged 18 and older must complete the U110 U.S. Center for Safe Sport Core Training in order to participate

Policies

REGISTRATION POLICY:

Attendees must be USA Gymnastics members (Recreational Coach, Competitive Coach, Judge, Meet Director, Owner/Managing Director, Athlete)
Course attendees must be a minimum of 14 years old
Attendees aged 18 and older MUST have completed U110: U.S. Center Safe Sport Core course to attend this training.
Pre-registration can be done online up to 1 week prior to the scheduled course date.
All on-site registrations will be charged a $25 late fee and are not guaranteed course materials or a spot in the course.

TRANSFER POLICY:

To transfer a registration to another person, please email education@usagym.org.
Transfers can be made up to 1 week before the course date at no cost.
Transfers made less than 1 week before the course date, and transfers made onsite, will result in a $30 transfer fee.

CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICY:

All cancellations must be received in writing at education@usagym.org.
Cancellation requests received more than 2 weeks before the course date will result in a 50% refund.
No refunds will be issued for cancellations made less than two weeks before the course date.
