Key Responsibilities:

Assist athletes with routine development and choreography for XCEL competitions.

Inspire and motivate gymnasts to build confidence, discipline, and sportsmanship.

Job description
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will have experience coaching level 3-10 and pre-team gymnasts; knowledge of the USA Gymnastics Age Group Competition Program rules and skills for levels 3-10; the ability to demonstrate the proper progressions, techniques and safety practices for all gymnastics apparatus; and possess the physical ability to spot athletes safely and effectively. This is a full-time 40-hour/week position, primarily working Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, with occasional weekend commitments for meets and competitions.

MAJOR FUNCTION:
Are you an experienced gymnastics coach who enjoys working with kids? Come work where Olympic athletes, national champions and stunt actors have trained – at the City of Tallahassee’s Trousdell Gymnastics Center!
As the Boys Competitive Gymnastics Head Coach, you will lead and train athletes at the developmental, compulsory and optional levels (levels 3-10). This position is responsible for planning and executing training sessions with a focus on skill development and safety. In this role, you must create daily, weekly and seasonal lesson plans for each level while evaluating individual athlete’s progress and training opportunities. You will work closely with other coaches to ensure a cohesive and supportive training environment, so you must demonstrate the ability to lead and organize teams. Additionally, you will assemble teams to represent Tallahassee in local, state, regional and national competitions.
This state-of-the-art, 27,000-square foot facility includes a large gym with two competitive floor areas, floor pits and seating for over 230 spectators. It also features a separate preschool gym, dance studio, and kindergym. The Trousdell Gymnastics Center offers recreational classes and competitive programs for preschool, kindergarten, developmental (elementary age students), teens and adults. Ballet, introductory dance and movement gymnastics classes are also offered for those with special needs. Throughout its 60-year history, this program has given more than 500,000 children an opportunity to participate in gymnastics.
Minimum Training and Experience
Possession of a bachelor’s degree in leisure services, physical education, recreation, history, art culture, or a related field and one year of experience that includes leisure services, teaching, physical education, recreation, or one year of experience that includes the specialty area in which the vacancy exits (such as pool management, gerontology, non-profit administration, history and/or art culture, or senior services); or a degree in public administration, social work or a related field and two years of experience that includes the specialty area in which the vacancy exists; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Necessary Special Requirement
At the department director's discretion, a valid Class E State driver's license may be required at the time of appointment for any of the designated positions allocated to this class.
May be required to obtain or possess specialty certifications related to employment.
