PERSONAL INFO Roethlisberger is a two-time Olympian (1992, 1996). He finished seventh in the all-around in Atlanta, the best U.S. finish in a non-boycotted Olympics since 1932. He won his fourth National All-Around title at the 1995 Coca-Cola National Championships, the first gymnast to do so in 29 years. He won back-to-back McDonald's American Cup titles in 1995 and 1996, the first male to do so since Peter Vidmar in 1983 and 1984. Selected "Athlete of the Year" for 1990, 1992, 1993 and 1995 and co-winner in 1996 in voting by his national teammates, Roethlisberger is a three-time NCAA champion. He also received the 1995, 1998, and 2000 "Sportsperson of the Year" award. Roethlisberger is the 1993 Nissen Award winner and a 1992 and 1993 Academic All-American. Roethlisberger won the 1993 NCAA Top Six Award. He comes from a family of Olympians: sister Marie was the alternate on the 1984 Olympic Team, and his father, Fred, was on the 1968 Olympic Team. |
