| Chari is madea comeback after a highly successful career at Oregon State University. She started in the sport in 1978. She suffered a major knee injury in 1993, requiring reconstructive surgery, but came back to lead OSU to the NCAA championships. She was presented the American Award, the highest honor in collegiate gymnastics, in recognition of her athletic and academic achievements. A seven-time all-American, she also was a CoSIDA/GTE Academic All-American and a four-time NACGC Academic All-American. She graduated from OSU with a 3.58 GPA. She is a two-time Pac-10 Gymnast of the Year, three-time Pac-10 All-Conference and Conference All-Academic Team member. She holds OSU records in all-around, bars and beam. She received the Hayward Award, honoring the top female athlete in the state or Oregon. She scored eight perfect 10's in her career, including two in the same meet, an NCAA record. |
